3 years ago I had a basal cell carcinoma removed from the left side of my face. It was traumatic. About 6 months ago I noticed an identical, scaly little growth on the right side. Same position and everything. I haven’t gotten it checked out because I really don’t want another hole in my face. Not in denial, just more like avoidance of reality.
Last week I took the horse paste prophylactically. No side effects, no worms that I could see.
Tonight, though, I noticed that the scaly spot on my right cheek is completely gone. Is it even possible that the ivermectin could have reversed the skin cancer? And so quickly (6 days)? I don’t know what to think here. Has anyone had a similar experience?
I don't have any input for you about your experience with ivermectin. However, I'm a "repeat customer" to the dermatologist over the past twenty years. I've had hundreds of AK's treated, at least a dozen basal cells removed, and a handful of squamous cells. As my dermatologist says, "Once the barn door is open, the horses will keep running out." Meaning, if you've already had one cancer removed on one side of your face, and possibly another one on the other side, you may very well likely have more.
My purpose in writing this, however, is to let you know of another alternative to having a hole carved out of your face. It's called flourouracil cream. There's nothing fun about it, the treatment lasts generally 6-8 weeks, hurts like h-e-double sticks, and leaves you red as a beet until it heals...complete with peeling skin and blisters. However, once you're done, the pre-cancers and latent ones are gone for good, and your skin is like a baby's bottom.
FYI.
My father had this done and I was definitely going to go this or another route rather than the Mohs surgery if I ever had to do it again.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Hope you are doing well!
