I was in 5th grade and the teachers started freaking out. They were leaving class and talking to each other quietly but hysterically. My teacher said I will let your parents tell you what's going on. We were let out of school early that day and I went home and the watched news for a bit and had my mom explain what happened. Then I rode my bike with my friend around the neighborhood until dark.
After some time passed I started to get interested in exactly who would attack us, so my dad showed me on a map. Pretty sure that was when I began doubting reality. It made no sense to 5th grade me.
