I used to play EVE Online with Sean Smith. He was the chief diplomatic officer for the in-game Alliance known as Goonswarm. Yes, EVE Online is a very political game.
When I first heard he'd been killed with a diplomat, I thought I'd heard wrong until I found out it was real life and not in-game.
He had established satellite communications at the compound, then logged into the game and was chatting with buddies when he suddenly said "We're under attack, I've gotta go" and that was, obviously, the last anyone hear from him.
In the 13 hours movie, they have a scene with him playing Call of Duty at 42:26. when I saw that shit, I laughed so hard. Sean had no interest in the shooter games, but I guess Activision offered the director more than CCP did so CoD got to be in the movie.
Anyways, he used to moderate the political discussion forums for the Goonswarm Alliance (Something Awful) and he was a raging lefty. I'm talking he was super gung-ho Obama/Hillary.
I find it ironic that a raging lefty, that railed against conservatives every chance he got, was allowed to burn to death by the party he voted for.
