I picked up the story on a late night infomercial where the sales were about rare/collectable currency. One of the sales was about a rare Spanish currency which was old in this case. The symbol on this currency was a serpent coiled around a tree. The currency expert made the comment that THIS was the origin of the symbol for the dollar - the serpent coiled around a tree, an obvious reference of Eve falling for the serpent's lie in the Garden.
This was not anything about conspiracies or anything close. It was just a currency expert noting the significance of the bill he was selling.
