Great post. Also when we get to the first bowl, "there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image", which sounds very much like it's prefigured by what's already happening (Rev. 16:2).
Just wanted to add that the snake on a tree is a counterfeit of God's symbol. He used it originally to mean the Knowledge of Good and Evil, namely free will, a good thing; then to mean healing from sin, when Moses lifted up a snake on a pole; then to mean Jesus himself, the sin-bearer on the tree. This is what we ought to take from this symbol; however, when the corrupt use it to mean other things, that use is corrupted. There are a lot more of these connections, including pentagrams, in this thread.
All the satan's symbols and marks are corruptions of God's; even the mark of the beast is a counterfeit of the earlier seal of God (Rev. 7:3), and that seal is the Father's name (14:1), which also includes the Lamb's name (22:3-4). If you are sealed in Jesus by inviting him into your heart, you are protected against every false mark and symbol of the devil.
