Most cops don't know about most laws, and hardly any of them are capable of even conceiving the idea of Rights. They just selectively enforce the few laws that are financially beneficial to the govt, or do what their boss tells them to look out for due to political optics. It's literally not in their job description to protect or to serve the citizens. Even the "good" ones can only be counted on to do what they're commanded to do, if that means standing down in the face of violent crime - or enforcing obviously tyrannical mandates.
