Have to admit, I initially skipped Jupiter Ascending because it looked weird. Just watched it the other day per Normon"s recommendation. Actually a decent movie, although I more enjoyed the Matrix series and V for Vendetta (the Guy Fawkes mask as a symbol for anarchists always cracked me up, given that Fawkes was ironically a Papist leading an attempt to restore a Catholic to the English throne).
Yes, indeed. Way too much time in front of screens. I admit I fall into that category myself. At least the majority of my time in front of screens is to communicate and learn things, much less so for entertainment. It's amazing to me that Plato (or allegedly Socrates) could come up with the allegory as if they could foresee the concept of TV/movies etc. Or was it more along the simplistic lines of "the world is a stage", literal people still acting? Obviously now we have the screens, but it's still the same concept of putting on a show
Research the Oracle at Delphi and exactly how the Oracle's message was conveyed to a petitioner.
If you needed a particularly good divination to inspire the troops, sway or control a population, do you think the amount of gold "donated" had anything to do with the "interpretation" of the Oracle's "pronouncement?"
It comprises the very fibers, twisted into thread, then woven, warp and weft, into this, our very perception of reality.
Weaving, knitting, crocheting, felting, braiding or plaiting, hands have made the machines, cast the needles, and guide the threads and strands into place.
In the sunlight, openly, something of use or value produced.
In the shadows, hidden, malefic tricks of the mind induced.
Look there, in the shadows, where you are afraid to look.
"While in a trance the Pythia "raved" – probably a form of ecstatic speech – and her ravings were "translated" by the priests of the temple into elegant hexameters. It has been speculated that the ancient writers, including Plutarch who had worked as a priest at Delphi, were correct in attributing the oracular effects to the sweet-smelling pneuma (Ancient Greek for breath, wind or vapor) escaping from the chasm in the rock. That exhalation could have been high in the known anaesthetic and sweet-smelling ethylene or other hydrocarbons such as ethane known to produce violent trances. Though this theory remains debatable the authors put up a detailed answer to their critics."

Do you see the hands at work?
