It was good to mention thrift stores because most suggestions have been options that would hurt financially. Good idea. Many give their profits to ministries.

Buy second-hand clothes from individual traders online. Do your research, re: vintage labels. there are luxury brands that sell for tiny fractions of replacement cost. Go for timeless styles that are made from natural fibres. Many people sell them because they changed shape, however, if they are individual sellers, they are also trying to make ends meet.
