I agree. All of the regulation, gatekeeping, boards, insurances, and other antics are what make "healthcare" so expensive. Throw it all out. If we could freely walk into a clinic run by it's doctor who is transparent about services, products, and costs, and who has no government incentives or support whatsoever, that will do more to allow people to afford healthcare than any degree of socialism ever can.
As for gatekeeping? If you do your due diligence and raise multiple children, you may well be more qualified to treat or diagnose children than most pediatricians. If you spend a decade or two on athletic endeavors and actually read and study up on it, you could compete with some sports physiologists minus some of the official terminology.
