I haven't shopped at Target since the lockdowns started. They had 3 registers open (every Target has at least 18 plus the self-checkouts), and there was a line of people waiting to check out that went to the back of the store. The whole time I'm thinking, this damn place is training us to stand in bread lines. This is fucking communism. So I said to the employee directing checkout line traffic, "why don't you guys open more registers? Look how many people you have here." She says, "it's social distancing, ma'am," with this condescending tone, like I'm some kind of moron.
Then I made a scene - I told her (loudly) they could open every 3rd register and still have WAY more than 6 feet between customers, and actually show some sort of respect for their customers' time instead of making us all wait here in line like assholes where people aren't standing 6 feet apart anyway, and in the mean time a little bitch like her has no business talking down to their customers like she did. A few people clapped. I checked out what I had because I don't like wasting my time (I already stood there that long), but I never went back there.
Fuck big box shop local if possible
Amen! And I have been - this solidified it like nothing else. My favorite are the Mediterranean delis, they have great people working there, and they have bread, cheese, lots of staples. They also have the most fresh feta cheese, which you really can't get at big box stores except for prepackaged, which is horrible.
Recently I had to buy school uniform pants for my son before the school year began, and although I knew I could just go to Target and get what I needed, I went to a few other stores (including thrift shops) to get his pants. I feel much better not shopping at places like Target anymore.
