Why, then, are people not nearly as concerned about those who don’t get their flu shot each year? No one is acting like the people who didn’t get the flu shot are walking Typhoid Marys. Why the difference?
As an asthmatic, I was always told to get the flu vaccine to protect MYSELF each year. (I now know it has also gotten particularly leaky in recent years and is less helpful than harmful, but not the point here.) Didn’t matter if people around me got the flu shot as well. It was always about self protection.
If they’re arguing we’ll need the Covid vaccine each year like the flu shot, then it’s a self-protection thing.
We never get flu herd immunity through flu vaccines. It is strictly to protect those at risk who take the shot.
The utter shock and attempt at trying to make me feel shame when I would say, "I'm not responsible for anyone's protection but my own," was baffling. This happened numerous times.

These vaccines must be treated the same way.
