Now watching what’s going on in Australia, France, Canada, and remembering the near last 2 years here in the US, I felt it necessary to put a reminder out to law enforcement now. This is in true support of you all. To Encourage You To Do The Right Thing!
Law Enforcement officers swear an oath to protect and to serve the Public, and uphold the laws. Nowhere in your oath does it say to uphold politician’s demands. You should remember that laws come from Congress, and are weighed only by judges, and enforced by you.
What’s been happening in the US and around the world, law enforcement, all of you, are bending to political will. Not legal binding, but just political will. Let me be very clear here, politicians are not above the law PERIOD. If a politicians is breaking a law, they should be held accountable just like any other person! The only time a politician can “in a legal sense” avoid law is when Congress is in session to debate law, or diplomatic immunity. Even judges are not above the law. If they break the law, they should be held accountable period too. I know. Officers nearly all the time now go, “But the Mayor said, the Board said, the Counsel said, that politician said, AND the big problem, The Media Said!!”
Ted Cruz has been on the US border multiple times, An Elected US SENATOR! No Border Patrol Officers or local county, or city officers have listened to him! And he tells them over and over to stop the Illegas from flooding in Why?!? Because they’re breaking our laws!! But why are they listening to Joe Biden when HE IS BREAKING THE LAW?! Joe Biden does not have the Constitutional right to break written Congressional Laws! Congress CAN AND SHOULD override any Executive Order if it goes against Federal Laws Period! And every law enforcement officer should enforce such laws UNTIL A COURT or Congress tells them otherwise!! You don’t uphold the law when it’s convenient! You uphold it unless it is changed or struck down PERIOD! That’s what your oath says! That’s why you have a power to enforce OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE!
You do know that you as a law enforcement officer can arrest a Mayor, Counsel Member, a Judge, or a Politician that knowingly breaches a law or orders YOU TO DO SO! And you can spout all the excuses you want, but you have the authority to tell them NO UNDER OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE! How you may ask? Let me give you an example of how it works!
In most Conservative States, and in California I can speak for, we have law enforcement offices that are separated by elected officials. The Sheriff is elected, the city, county, and state attorney’s are elected, then we have all of our politicians. Well guess what most elected sheriff’s are telling these left leaning boards, mayors, AG’s and all the other politicians right up to Joe Biden on Vaccine Mandates, other EOs, and Not arresting ANTIFA?! What do you think these elected Sheriff’s are doing?! They’re telling politicians to “Sit and Spin on the Middle Finger!” Why?! Because they have the elected power and use the power to say, NO!! WE ARE UPHOLDING THE LAW AS IT IS WRITTEN PERIOD! And in places where they don’t have this elected power, they are simply refusing to uphold mandates and orders that aren’t law! If they need to resign, they resign! If they need to arrest, they can always use Obstruction of Justice!
But to be forward, you all should get your guts strong and arrest these people telling you to breach laws and CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS! Because as I started out, they ARE JUST PEOPLE and they are not above the law! Use Obstruction Of Justice if you can’t think of anything else to arrest them on at first! Because when a politician tells you to breach your oath, they are obstructing justice! You do your job and let the COURTS sort it out after period!
Remember: At some point soon you’ll be required to hassle or arrest friends and family, even immediate family in this war. Just like what happened in the Civil War and Revolution. Family fought and killed family! So ask yourself at that moment, “Is breaking my oath and the law, for a politician worth it?! Will it be worth it in the short, and/or long run?”
You think about that please next time you look at your children, significant other, parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends. Is breaking your oath and the law worth it?! Or should you bust that politician for “obstruction of justice”, or what ever other laws or Constitutional laws/rights they’re asking you to break? Think about your oath. Think about what you wish to leave as your honored legacy. And understand that in the end Where We Go One, We Go All. But God will truly be the final judge on how you honored your life, family, friends, the public, and the laws.
God bless our US military and law enforcement officers, and all of the military and law enforcement around the world making this difficult choice. Give them the will to choose what is right.
Commenters Please Be Respectful. I will remove any disrespect to officers. This is to inform and encourage.
I had a philosophical debate on a similar topic a long time ago with a friend who (thankfully) just checked out his 20yr DD214. He'd been on several tours, been in a few different levels of the field command structure (from E2 to E7) at the time, and had some experiences that could make skin crawl (even among the awakened). He said something that stuck with me for situations like this, "A soldier follows orders. A good soldier knows when they're bullshit."
I checked the Georgia Code for these laws, and sure enough they're there in Title 16 Chapter 10. 16-10-1 Violation of oath by a public officer, punishable by 1-5 years. 16-10-24 Obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers: Any obstruction is a misdemeanor, while violence or threat of violence bumps that up to a 1-5 years felony.
Georgia defines Obstruction as preventing or hindering an officer from carrying out their official and legal duties. Giving an officer an unlawful order or mandate would easily fit into that definition with absolutely no stretch of the imagination.
You are correct Anon: inutterable. Thank you for posting your States Law. Now we need to help officers memorize it, and enforce it! And enforce it against politicians who abuse them in violating their oath.
