The scientific name of pokeweed is Phytolacca americana. My biology teacher taught us this by saying in a fake Italian accent, "If you poke me, I'm-a gonna fight-a like-a Americana." That was way back in the good old non-PC days. :)
I think you can make medicine from the roots.
