Why are you insisting that a hillbilly mispronunciation of a word is somehow the correct word?
The real Old English words that we still use are spelled differently now. Just as an FYI, our word "salad" comes from the French word "salade," not from Anglo-Saxon. You have to go all the way back to Latin to find a "t" in a proper spelling of the word ("salate").
Live in ignorance if you wish. I just hate to see made up things presented as fact. That's all.
"Sallet" is a helmet, and "salat" is a muslim ritual.
We use modern English.

I am left no recourse other than to show you all of the Old English words we STILL use to this day.
Why are you fighting gobby/myself over such a small matter? What does it gain you?
