One does not present a case to the Supreme Court. It needs to go thru 3 or 4 layers of Appeals thru Local, State and Districts which takes time. Likewise the Supreme Court does not find guilt or innocence just cancels lower court rulings. It's basically like a penalty / replay review in Fooseball.
Generally speaking, that is true. However, Lindell says this case will be brought by various states' AGs, which means the states themselves will be parties. That gives SCOTUS original jurisdiction.
In all Cases ... in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make. -- US Constitution, Article 3, Section 2
