The police here in Oz have the same ideals as yours in Canada. What you are seeing in Oz is only a small pocket of the nation, which is getting headlines therefore making it look like the whole of Oz is in a mess. There is no heavy handed policing occurring anywhere else. The majority of Aussies are going about their day as normal, without masks/restrictions.
