Andre was a brilliant man, highly educated, cultured and a likeable personality. Sounds like the perfect qualities to be an intelligence officer. He was soldier and knew the risks of being caught as a spy. Frankly, he was a far better man than Arnold as he accepted his fate instead of fleeing from it. Andre acted in the service of his country whereas Arnold betrayed his country because he was bitter over being personally slighted. Had Nathan Hale not been captured and hung several years earlier, it's more likely that Andre would not have met that same fate.
The story behind how Andre was captured is actually quite interesting... because one of the two soldiers was wearing a Hessian coat, Andre believed them to be friendly Loyalists. Oops. It's not like the soldier was even planning on trapping Andre. But there's a lesson to be learned that about trapping one's enemies by making them believe that you are their friend.
