People thought they were donating to Kyle's family. In reality they were donating to a foundation set up by lawyers.

Eventually the $2 million will be released, and who will get the money? Not Kyle or his family. The lawyers are now fighting over who (between the two lawyers) gets how much of the money.

Moreover, Kyle was left in jail longer than he needed to be while these lawyers used his story to fundraise.

There is a reason there are so many nasty lawyer jokes.

Not one word you said is true. Donors had all information. If they thought something else from their own imaginations, that's on them. The money is meant to establish a fund for such ongoing efforts. If you do not like that, feel free to not donate. If you thought it was something else from your own ignorance, make sure you fully comprehend what your'e doing in future.
