I think author could have made a stronger argument than decentralized networks (in hypothetical worst cases) are inferior to traditional systems (in hypothetical most benevolent and noble cases).
He doesn't even approach how mistrust can influence choices. Or how top-down power structures exclude many.
While blockchain may not guarantee that Epstein's jail camera works (next time), it is evolving and so are we.
No one should be forced to trust themselves, but many of us choose to. Will we stumble? No doubt.

Yeah, that's always silly. Mining DOES use a ton of energy, but that's mostly an economic issue .
