That's the real irony... Members of Congress can say anything they like on the floor and no one can stop them or hold them accountable. The founders made it that way because they feared people would be silenced and threaten or bullied into not speaking the TRUTH!!!

This clause has also been interpreted in Gravel v. United States, 408 U.S. 606 (1972) to provide protection to aides and staff of sitting members of Congress, so long as their activities relate to legislative matters.

It would literally require a constitutional amendment to fix this.

I was wrong on one point. Congress can hold a member accountable for saying something they disprove of.

Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a member.

Each House can determine its own Rules (assuming a quorum is present), and may punish any of its members. A two-thirds vote is necessary to expel a member. Section 5, Clause 2 does not provide specific guidance to each House regarding when and how each House may change its rules, leaving details to the respective chambers.

But for REAL punishment like being expelled it requires a 2/3rds vote which isn't likely unless they do something insane.

Obviously when Pelosi is in charge crazy people can get up and lie through their teeth and no one will do anything about it. That's why this voter fraud crap is such a huge problem because if they fraud their way into enough offices then they have absolute control over everything meant to remedy the problem.
