I was kicked out of a store today for refusing to wear a mask. The girl (I’m guessing, always hard to tell with these people) handed me a mask as I walked in. I continued to walk without putting it on my face. She FOLLOWED me and, causing a scene, told me I needed to put it on my face or leave. I turned around, dropped the mask on the floor and walked out leaving my boyfriend standing there with his mask on. I’m DONE with this.
Side note: I also witnessed a man wearing gloves use hand sanitizer today... on the gloves. I’m fucking done. Get me out of this nightmare.
OP, you did good.
When being confronted by a mask Karen, we all need to perfect the “OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS?!” look of wide eyed horror, followed by a terse Valley Girl/ Chad, “Excuse Me?!” (They are attacking you and getting in your space. You have every right to shop in their store. Period. ).
When they continue to harass you, say, “Wow, is this how you treat your “valued customers”?!”
Carry a pocket constitution you can hand them.
Or hand them a copy of this card from Healthy Americans: https://www.thehealthyamerican.org/exemption-badge
Finally, “I am immune to unconstitutional and discriminatory mandates, thank you anyway.” (It is a legal term).
Soldiers train and practice and plan ahead.
All GREAT advice, but may I add that she should have a plan B?
From personal experience they will still call cops even if you calmly explain that it is your right to shop.
Sadly at this point most of my "plan B"s have been finding better places to shop haha
Let them call the police. Then what? C'mon anon, citizens are protected by the Constitution and Bill of Rights ... Exercise them!!!
I don't mean to sound defensive fren, but in every encounter I've had with police regarding mask mandates they will ALWAYS side with the business owner over the constitution or the bill of rights. I have a pocket-sized constitution and I they do not care, they have a quota to fill it seems...
Its because it has nothing to do with the mask. It has everything to do with "Criminal Trespass" which the police can enforce. The property owner aka the business no longer wants you on their privart property and thus can have you criminally trespassed.
