Cheers, I didn't get time today but I've got some ideas about some other experiments.
E.g. a thin slice of chicken (so light can pass through it so I can use the microscope). Another idea would be to either stain the chicken with ink or the swab before using it, should make them show up better.
Run a swab over some fresh chicken meat and see what sticks.
That's a great idea, I was trying to think how to test that aspect.
