What makes you think they were gearing up for WW2? I haven't seen any evidence of this.

Remember, the Treaty of Versailles made it illegal for Germany to have a military. Hitler came in and said fuck that noise. He was building up a military from nothing. That doesn't mean he was ready to go to war, only that he was preparing the country in case a military was necessary (which it clearly was).

He was likely gearing up for military action to take back the lands that were stolen from Germany post-WWI, but that does not mean he wanted world war. The evidence shows that he did not want that.

Who "discovered" that the plants making bombs were never targeted? The Soviets? The Brits? The Americans?

Of course, the Brits were known for bombing civilians. I don't think Churchill gave a damn if military targets were hit or if your great-grandma's house was hit. He was scum, and didn't give a damn who was killed -- as long as he was safe in the country house when the German bombs hit the military targets near London.
