County Sheriff has 100% authority to do this and can even deputize citizens for the specific cause. He also has the power to arrest any federal agents attempting to interfere. BUT...the sheriff can't do it by himself...he needs citizens to step up and talk face-to-face and talk about how they can support him in protecting the citizens of your county.
