I think to fight the use of technology is a waste of energy. What I do is add to. I teach geology. Their labs are partially hand on. I make the hands on part 50% of the grade. The attendance and participation has been very good once they get the message. They put their phones away and actually start to listen to me. In school, grades are currency.
