a vrill is a parasite that takes over the human host. usually enters in the eye and wraps itself around the optical nerve until it can completely mimic the human and have complete control over the host body. This has been in a star trek episodes where the worm like parasite takes over star fleet high command and recently I saw a snip-it at the end of a rick and morty. also Remember the black eye club?
Just looking into it myself so I am by no means an expert but I found this writeup. Doesn't seem very parasite related tho so not sure if this is what OP is talking about
He should have mentioned Parasite Pill. It talks about parasites' ability to get brain access via the eye and optic nerve. That's page 58 where it is first mentioned.
The Vril (a kind of alien creature - real or fiction?) do the same by pushing a tentacle called proboscis into the victim's eye socket thereby transferring its being into him/her.
And in both cases, the victim might have eye problems... a bruise... like a black eye. Or one eye that is "off." The victim will lose cognitive function and be, well, sort of programmable.
