My husband, retired Navy, says it's an underwater survey drone used to map the ocean floor, either automated and after running out of fuel surfaced to be picked up or it broke away from a tow ship. It sends out a signal regarding it's location.
Its because of "digital zoom" which is not zoom at all.
People don't tend to get 1 foot from "interesting things" for obvious reasons.
So with a cellphone the cameras cannot optically zoom. So the software fakes it by just enlarging a small part of what its sensor picks up and just fills in data using math. Its no different than taking a photograph jpg and zooming in on it.

He would definitely know more then me. Thanks
It shouldn't have to be said...
But needs to be said. DON'T try to take one of these things. They almost always have built in tracking.
I would suggest you call the authorities, but honestly fuck em, let them find their own damn drones. Not like the authorities do shit for us anymore.
Throw a rock or a bearing in the low-flying craft with a slingshot. If it explodes on contact, it's chinese
What if the sling shot was made in china tho? ?
Maybe they both explode? kek
Another thing worth noting is that another captain had been paid to deploy sonar drones recently but said this was not like what he had deployed
I was gonnasay. Its a Chinese sonar drone

Looks to me like a screenshot taken from a video that had to be zoomed in.
