Scheller was wrong. Active duty military - no matter what rank - are not supposed to make public comments about civilian political leaders. Period. He should be stripped of his rank and booted out of the Army. So should the General who criticized Trump a few months ago but he is still on Duty.
Scheller does not deserve to be in jail. He did not commit a violent crime. For the moment, he's still active duty, he's not going anywhere. He was put in the brig for political convenience so he wouldn't continue to say bad things about the President and those at the Pentagon.
The timing is interesting. Scheller, who was jailed so he couldn't make any more public statements, somehow releases another statement. This time, ripping into Trump and other Republican presidents, as well as previous Democrat presidents, going all the way back to Bush Sr.. And now, here it is, three days later, and the news is reporting that Scheller is being released from the brig.
I guess he was only politically inconvenient when he was only tearing into the Biden administration. I guess it's okay if he's tearing apart Trump and other presidents also.
Also makes me wonder if maybe Scheller's new statement isn't itself politically motivated. Could the Colonel have made a deal, he'll bash Trump in a new statement if they release him from the brig? Maybe make his courts martial slide through a little quicker, a little easier. Maybe charge him with a lesser crime.
"Let's make a deal"....
