Eat some pistachios before you take the niacin. If you eat enough you'll find the "sweet spot" where you feel no flush and no grogginess. You are probably pretty adept with niacin, so try about 20 pistachios with 1000mg niacin and see what happens. When you flush, that is niacin not being used up in the cells. When there is melatonin already in the cells, it will use the niacin to push out inflammation. THAT is the point. With no inflammation there is no dis-ease.
The melatonin (pistachios) is crucial so the niacin gets into the cells. You want no flush. The flush means niacin was wasted (yeah I know it can be a little addictive). You want that niacin used up in side.
What's the difference between the no flush and the flush? I take 5mg of melatonin every night before I go to bed. So, If I take melatonin and niacin won't that accomplish the same result?
Flush niacin is niacinamide, not nicotinic acid (flush niacin). You want to take the melatonin BEFORE the niacin by about 15-30 mins. You get the melatonin into the cells first, then the niacin comes along and does it's thing. If there isn't enough melatonin in the cells, the excess niacin is expressed in the flush. The good news is you can replace the synthesized melatonin with pistachios.
Therapeutic doses for vaax injury, covid or long covid are 2000mg niacin 3x per day and as much melatonin as it takes to NOT flush. For non covid and non-vaxxed prevention is 1500mg niacin (for an adult of course) 3x a day. You would stay at that dose until you can start lowering melatonin dose and not flush.
This goes far beyond covid. Melatonin is much more important than it's marketed sleep assistance. That's a tiny dose. But the pistachios have highly bioavailable melatonin so need need far less than the powdered supplement.

Thanks fren, I never knew that! take 500 mg daily but I’ll bump it up to 1000 mg. I’m used to the flush so it doesn’t bother me.
