So ironic that I was bitching when I was a kid because we never had cable, we were poor, single mom and all that, but we read books, a lot of them, and spent a lot of time building treehouses, exploring the creek, going swimming etc. I grew up in the late eighties/ early nineties. Probably the last generation of kids like that, AOL came out when I was in highschool, so I kind of straddled two worlds.
Oh I played my fair share of GameBoy Color & Nintendo 64 with friends & cousins, and later Rock Band etc, just lamenting the seeming loss of wonder in kids. Their personalities are hooked up to a device, I know kids that won’t eat unless they have iPads in front of them with a show on.

Same here fren! We had amazing childhoods. I miss those years before life was inundated by tech.
