Years ago when I still had Facebook, I got into it with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on a post that was thinly veiled anti-Trump pro-illegal immigration, talking about the contributions of migrants to the American Church. I asked where the posts were about the contributions from the Polish/Eastern Europeans, Germans, Italians, Irish, Coptic, Chaldeans, etc who quite literally built our major cities & industries after coming here legally and getting zero help from the government…they didn’t like that one bit. One of the actual bishops took the time to get snarky with me. I sent the exchange to my pastor and our parish stopped sending money to the USCCB’s charity efforts.
