Actually, when you enlist you give up your rights to the government.

I was threatened with a destruction of government property charge when I fell asleep on the beach and got some very very very bad sinburn that required medical attention.

I was advised to seek treatment off base to avoid charges... just needed an ointment and some antibiotics
