Sorry, the entire website is devoted to exposing corruption in California's Income Tax Agency, which is called the Franchise Tax Board. I guess I need to make what FTB is more self-evident on the home page.
You are so right that once they identify you as a potential victim, the government agencies will not leave you alone.
Not a criticism, just pointing out it isn't obvious what the FTB was. I don't know why your state IRS has Franchise in their name.
To me, the word 'Franchise' is where you own and operate a McDonald's restaurant.
an authorization granted by a government or company to an individual or group enabling them to carry out specified commercial activities, e.g., providing a broadcasting service or acting as an agent for a company's products
I updated the home page to include that FTB is CA's Income Tax Agency. I appreciate the feedback! I am not a trained marketing person, so I only know what needs to be improved when people point things out to me.
I believe that you are correct. My understanding is that the CA constitution does not allow for personal income taxes to be collected by the state, and that the Franchise Tax Board was created to tax businesses. But somehow, they have finagled it so that individuals are considered franchises.
