I work for a large company whose only business is in government contracts where physical hardware is produced. We were recently sent a company wide email on an upcoming vaccination deadline, with the penalty for non-compliance being termination of employment. They are offering a medical and a religious exemption.
Talking with coworkers, we came to the conclusion that due to an existing staffing shortage, the company absolutely couldn't afford to fire 10-15% or more of it's workforce. They wouldn't be able to deliver the hardware and would potentially lose hundreds of millions, if not more, if a major contract was cancelled.
I'm calling their bluff and will never be vaccinated. Lose my job and remain healthy, or keep it and have lifelong health problems? Easy choice. (A rainy day fund helps too 😁)
