Local news (Louisville KY) just did a story last night on the shortage of 911 operators. We're currently short 16 calltakers and 26 dispatchers. Source they just raised the starting pay to $20/hr while in training, goes up to at least $21/hr for calltaking ($24/hr for dispatch) They're currently working 12 hr shifts, during the height of the BLM/Breonna Taylor protests/riots they were working 16s, practically living in the call center, sleeping in the quiet rooms (hubs worked there until last yr, left for a smaller city 911/dispatch and is MUCH happier) No mention of vax mandate on last night's report but ppl are tired of getting paid shit to work long ass hrs and get verbally abused when trying to help the person on the other line. You add a vax mandate to that and yea, those shortages are gonna get worse.
