They should just go work for someone else, anyway. Screw his mea culpa. Restaurant jobs are a dime a dozen. Put him out of business for trying to ruin their lives.
Someone on p.win talked about when they rented space at an airport, how expensive it was, and the security checks the employees have to go through. How shutting down for 2-3 weeks would bankrupt them completely. Very low profit margin due to high rents.
It made sense. I worked for a shipping company, and had to go through insane background checks when I got hired, and do yearly checks.
Not sure if it would be different from what I went through, since I had to meet the planes on the tarmac- but the way that person described it..... it applies to everyone who has access to the airport areas, not just the tarmac.
If so, good for those employees! Those security checks costs a lot of money and take a lot of time- and they know they held leverage.
Indeed. And I wouldn't be surprised to learn the owner isn't even American. And if he is American, shame on him for behaving in such an unAmerican way. i hope we hear a follow up to this story.

He’s seriously screwed if they quit.
To work in an airport, all employees have to have DHS background check and other security features.
Not easy or cheap to replace!
Edit: spelling/autocorrect
I didn't know that about the security checks. They could capitalize upon that at other restaurants in the airport. Little tyrant may be in trouble.
