Governor Ron DeSantis and the CEO of the Florida Ports Council Michael Rubin extended an invitation to those languishing ships to travel southeast and fill their ports—Florida is not only ready, but able to handle the off loading and the distribution of goods across the country.

So, Florida is putting out the word to shipping companies that ports in the Sunshine State are open and ready for business.
“Florida is where your success comes in, and our seaports are the solution to ensure the cargo shipping logjam doesn’t become the Grinch that stole Christmas,” said Michael Rubin, President and CEO of the Florida Ports Council.
Yet another example of DeSantis showing what leadership is through concrete action, rather than talking about what leadership should look like.
A lot of supermarket chains in Florida obtain their foods sources from Florida farmers too as well as the southeast US and other States in America.
Becoming more independent and self reliant is the key moving forward.
I mean... idk if anyone’s looked at a map lately, but it’s a lot more complex then just going southeast to Florida. You have to float all the way down to southern Mexico and go through the Panama Canal and then back up to Florida, assuming most goods come from Asia/Russia.
If you’re importing to Florida it logistically would only make sense to do business with Mexico and South America, cuz fuck Europe...

Uh,.. there are a massive amount of ships sitting off of the east coast in New York. They could just float down the coast to Florida. No need for them to go through the Panama Cabal. Those would be enough to keep the Florida ports busy.

I even mentioned the fact that the cargo I was referring to was coming from China, hence why it would need to travel south to reach Florida.
