I remember watching this "live" (although I realize now it was pre-recorded in an empty stadium) and thinking, "What the hell is this? The UK is bizarre. This is a freakshow".

I watched live as well and thought the same thing. It was so bizarre that I didn't get it. Little did we know that we'd understand where they were going 9 years later. Sad but true
