2005 book "Selling Sickness" details how the medical establishment systematically kept lowering the bar as to allowable thresholds for medical treatment for Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Osteoporosis, etc. etc. so as to create drug dependency for a lifetime. https://www.amazon.com/Selling-Sickness-Pharmaceutical-Companies-Patients/dp/156025856X We just consumed the information and started taking a lifetime of medication. We are starting to wake up.
