James does say that we should show our faith through our works however... But Jesus alone is the remission of sin. Our deeds, thoughts, emotions, prayers, asking for forgiveness, etc nothing gives remission of sin except Jesus atonement. He wants us to live in a NEW way once we become part of his flock which is where people get mixed up with the works vs faith in salvation. They start getting confused thinking that if they live in a certain way they will get the holy spirit which is FALSE.
In 1 John 2:2 and 1 John 5:6 it says Jesus came by water and blood and the spirit testifies because it is the truth. This atonement was done for the whole world, unfortunately not everyone accepts the sacrifice of our Lord. In Hebrews 10 it tries to explain that the old sacrifices couldn't possibly do away with your daily sin, these people offered sacrifices never ending because once they sinned they had to sacrifice once again. JESUS came ONCE and made us clean forever. He carried all the worlds sin from his baptism, to his crucifixion. We cant change this truth, his sacrifice is separate from our works. The remission of sin comes only from sacrifice and it's done, 2000 years ago its been done. You cant add to that! Accept it and live in the new way. If you sin after being born again, think of the washing of feet passage “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” You are completely clean from sin through faith alone, not prayer or pleading, not through your deeds, not through anything except Jesus.
Yes. For years I attended church: it was an empty virtue signaling social exercise. Everyone dressed in Sunday best, showing off the latest fashion, newest car, boasting of their holidays etc. Confession was another empty ritual: parroting a few Hail Marys and carrying on without changing their behaviour, wrong attitudes or wrong thinking (still hating, envying, gossiping etc) Precious little love or charity; none in the convent school I attended. Idols, rituals, repetitions of prayers, solemn kneeling but no Spirit filled, God surrendered and Jesus centered lives. There were a few pious saintly souls (my great grandma certainly was) but they were very rare.
Jon MacArthur. Very good pastor. Can be overly didactic, but staying very close to the text keeps him humble even while his words can be very inspiring.
I'm an awful christian but I try to do what is right because Jesus gave us the way to be, no one is more right then then God. I however would get roasted for saying Jesus paid all our debts, not saying that sin is ok. But we are all forgiven. Otherwise what did he do? I praise him differently I guess. I tried to join a church once but I couldnt agree with them. Maybe I'm totally wrong and will be judged. I just dont know. To me Jesus is freedom, feeling joy and happiness is for Him. I dont put the things that make me hapoy above Him. They are there because of him. I'm a sinner and thats why I need him.
I got thrown out of the last church for questioning the mass hysteria that was the Toronto Blessing "revival" (it morphed into the Alpha Course and spread like wildfire through many denominations in the UK), not been able to find a Spirit led, Bible based church since. Organised religion is worthless: we are the temple of the Holy spirit. Failing is something to learn from and, with God's help, try to overcome. We may not always succeed, but God appreciates and rewards our efforts to do right. Fight the good fight, resist the devil and he will flee.
Do you see how that also means "authority figures and their satisfaction alone...?" Because who can know what you're talking about some God that no one can hear
Amen. The Book of Revelations ends with:
I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book.
But some on here would have you believe that their man-made doctrine of works is the right way, that priests and rituals are necessary. Their lengthy arguments are wrapped up in long winded reasoning and references what are irrelevant. Pharisees - not interested in the truth, the simple lessons Jesus taught are lost on them.

Yes, good works / charity done with love, nothing to do with earning salvation or preserving it.

Absolutely right. Recent post here promoting the Rosary and saying that salvation is through Sacraments!
Wonder why blatant un-biblical Jesuit propaganda for a false religion is allowed on here.? Seems this page is run by them like GAB.

I've been watching Dr Randall Smith's vids on YT - excellent teaching.
They want to divide us, remember.

AMEN, we are the body of christ and it is ALIVE AND KICKING

See you got a downvote, confirms my suspicions.
