Most consumers aren't seeing a big impact yet, but it's coming. I work for a manufacturing and distribution company... the supply chain issues are real, both domestically and internationally. We're seeing inflated prices right now on certain goods, and they will become more noticeable and pronounced in the months to come. Domestically, it's becoming difficult to get boxes, plastic, steel, aluminum and ingredients to make adhesives and shipping costs are through the roof. Our customers on the resale side (big box stores) are experiencing major delays in receiving products from us and the majority of their suppliers, plus their paying a lot more for what they do get because we can't afford to absorb all of the added expenses ourselves. Consumers should expect to have to pay more for pretty much everything in the near future. This isn't fear mongering, it's reality, and this is just for the domestic stuff. Even if your mantra is to always buy American, you may be surprised to learn that a lot of the "American made" stuff you are used to is made of components which come from China and other countries. Of course, you can claim it's all a conspiracy, BUT it is reality. This country is YEARS away from being able to manufacture our own goods... YEARS away. And any decisions we make in that vein will have a global impact. Once we stop importing, we'll stop exporting... every country that participates in the global supply chain wants to export as well as import. If we don't buy their stuff, they are going to lose interest in buying ours.
