You are correct, this is a poor way to distinguish a man from a woman. There are signs that can help. Women have wider hips than men so you see the booty sway from side to side when they walk and they swing their legs more to the midline than men. Men obviously have junk between their legs they don't want to compress so tend to walk more directly forward with less swing to the midline. You've got the tell-tale presence of Adam's apples. Men's arms tend to be veinier and their forearms bigger from the use of the hands, though obviously that's going to vary and you wouldn't likely see it in a computer nerd... There are lots of things but you sort of have to take it in its totality. Some trans and even drag queens spend a lot of time learning to mimic female behavior almost to the point that it becomes obvious because it's so over-the-top.
