It's very possible. But I would assume it goes deeper than just her Ukrainian nationality -- considering her past. Investigative journalist that grew up on a mostly secret Russian base in the arctic? It could have been as big as her investigating links into Epstein / human trafficking, or as small as he sexually assaulted her and wanted to cover his tracks.

One thing is certain: it wasn't an accident.
