I've actually been thinking off and on about novel archival methods, like storing digital data on vinyl for instance. Obviously I don't have the equipment, but it's still fun to think about new ways to to make information impossible to destroy.
Another interesting Idea I had was a decentralized internet-alternative made using off-the-shelf consumer networking components and possibly some purpose-built protocols. it's ugly as hell and mostly hypothetical at this point, but I think it's worth exploring.
