Some of the mystics mention that satan obtains more power from the blood of human sacrifices, especially innocent victims (i.e. abortion, teens vaxxed), and that enables him to exert more power and influence upon the world. It's like how when Adam sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, the entire world and humanity was handed over to the dominion of satan. he literally becomes the 'lord of the world' as Christ refers to him multiple times.
