Richard Adams - author of Watership Down wrote a story called The Plague Dogs. There was a Fauci type lab that experimented on dogs, and two dogs escaped. The lab didn’t want anyone to know what they were doing, so they made up a false story that the dogs had bubonic plague in order to shield themselves from scrutiny.
