It would be more accurate I think to look at it this way:
Original sin has the set the stage for separation from God. It’s merely the default now because we are fallen beings. Adam and Eve sinned and caused a new status quo that we inherit. We are separate from God and not perfect beings.
But everyone becomes a participant of their own volition of sin in the same way as Adam and Eve - wronging others, deciding good and evil for themselves, and rejecting God. Thus we all become guilty by our own participation.
