I'm an RN. I was supposed to start work on the 6th when my PCR and Rapid test came back positive. (I said this in earlier post.)
In the meantime our rental had been sold, all of our belongings were placed in storage, and I thought I was moving for work.
Since then, I've been in and out of Hospital, Ivermectin did help, I'm home on oxygen.
I am currently displaced and without housing because, I went from thinking we're moving to another town starting a job, ...too finding myself discharged from hospital without housing.
This morning I was told I don't qualify for disability, or any services since I wasn't technically working at the time of covid.
So how is an RN home on oxygen between 2 and 7, liters supposed to be employed?
This just doesn't make sense!
Do you live in one of the states that taxes the workers for Paid Family Leave? In most cases it can be used for the employee's own illness. In CA it lasts for up to 12 months. If your state offers it then that will be the counter to unemployment since for that you have to be ready, willing, and ABLE to work.
If you don't reside in one of those states, can you get food stamps and any type of rental assistance? I heard there's a voucher program that follows you to whatever property you rent. It's under HUD.
Sorry you are going through this. Will add you to my prayers.
