I'm curious, as I live in Volusia County, FL (inland, but still only about 25 miles from the shore, and at an elevation of roughly 32-35 ft). Are there any models of what the La Palma volcano would do, how big the potential tsunami would be, and how far inland it would travel? How much height does a tsunami lose as it moves inland?
Not really worried about this scenario, but would like to have a plan in place. Just in case...
I have read many disaster novels in my reading life and I am prepared for most scenarios-I can't remember just now which one described the results of a major tsunami to hit the east coast and Florida in particular, but one scenario was that the state would be washed in two and the resulting channel would redirect the Gulf flow into be less warm resulting in mini ice age for the UK and Europe.
On a more positive note, I also believe the great writing of such disasters eliminates it ever happening in RL.. 🤔
