You might contact some people at the school board itself that have access to budget numbers. I wouldn't start with the board members themselves, just start at the front desk and tell them you're looking for budget info. You never know who your allies might be, and in any case it's a legitimate request.

it used to work very well and you could see every school district in 50 states that was given and how much.

The report itself does give the calculation in the pages at the end so you could get a pretty good estimate if you know how many students are in your school district. I took a screen shot of nearby schools in my area before the link was removed. $17,021,588 or $4522 per student for 3762 students.
Good luck - they HIDE so much that we will never know.
